How to Pass a Lie Detector Test

A polygraph test or  lie detector test is designed to analyze physiological reactions to questions to determine whether or not a subject is being truthful. The accuracy of the test has been widely contested by groups including the National Academy of Science, the US Congress Office of Technology Assessment, and the American Psychological Association. Even so, the test is routinely used to screen employment applicants and interrogate criminal suspects. While a person may be told to answer all questions honestly, the test is designed to measure responses to white lies, which means truly honest people run the risk of generating a false positive on the test. Other people may wish to conceal answers to certain questions, whether guilty of wrongdoing or not. Fortunately for them, its not that hard to beat a lie detector test. The first step to passing the test is understanding how it works. How a Lie Detector Test Works A lie detector test includes more than the time spent hooked up to the polygraph machine. The tester will start making observations the instant a person enters the test center. A skilled polygrapher will notice and record nonverbal cues associated with lying, so its a good idea to know your tells. The polygraph machine records breathing rate, blood pressure, pulse rate, and perspiration. More sophisticated machines include magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the brain. Physiological responses to irrelevant, diagnostic, and relevant questions are compared to identify lies. Questions may be repeated two to three  times. The subject may be asked to intentionally lie to help the examiner establish baseline values. The test typically requires one to three hours to complete, including the background assessment, medical history, explanation of the test, actual polygraph, and follow-up. Most Advice Isnt Very Effective The internet is filled with advice on ways to beat a lie detector test, but many of these ideas arent very effective. For example, biting your tongue or putting a tack in your shoe to use pain to affect blood pressure wont affect perspiration levels. Similarly, imagining a lie when telling the truth and imagining the truth when telling a lie wont work because it establishes differences between lies and truth. Remember, differences between the truth and lies are the basis for the test! 2 Ways to Beat the Test Basically, there are two good ways to beat the test: Be completely zen, no matter what youre asked. Note: Most people cant master this.Be completely distraught throughout the entire test. 7 Tips to Try Most people are nervous when taking a lie detector test, whether they intend to lie or not. The physical responses to nerves probably wont fool a lie detector. You need to up your game to simulate feelings of mortal terror. This is because beating the test is all about mind games, which naturally affect physical responses. Here are some tips to try: If you want to beat the test, your best bet is to stay upset, fearful and confused throughout the entire test. The goal is to appear calm and in control, despite the inner turmoil. Remember your worst experience or solve difficult math problems in your head—whatever keeps you in a constant state of excitation and stress. If there is one particular question youre worried about, imagine every question is that question before answering.Take time before answering any question. Identify it as irrelevant, relevant, or  diagnostic (control). Irrelevant questions include asking you to confirm your name or whether the lights are on in the room. Relevant questions are the important ones. An example would be, Did you know about the crime? Diagnostic questions are ones most people should answer yes to but will most likely lie about. Examples include, Have you ever taken anything from your workplace? or Have you ever lied to get out of trouble?Alter your breathing during control question s, but return to normal breathing before answering the next question. You can make minor admissions here or not, as you choose. When you answer questions, answer firmly, without hesitation, and without humor. Be cooperative, but dont joke or act overly-friendly.Answer yes or no whenever possible. Do not explain answers, give details, or offer explanations. If asked to expand on a question, reply: What more do you want me to say? or Theres really nothing to say about that.If accused of lying, dont fall for it. If anything, use the accusation as fuel to feel upset and confused. In fact, answering diagnostic questions honestly may have given the examiner conflicting results, so be prepared to be questioned further.Practice any countermeasures before the test. Ask someone to ask you likely questions. Be aware of your breathing and how you react to different types of questions. Keep in mind, applying these tips may enable you to invalidate the test, but wont be much use if youre taking a lie detector test to get a job. In most cases, the easiest way through a lie detector test is to approach it honestly. Drugs That Affect Tests Drugs and medical conditions may affect a polygraph test, often leading to an inconclusive result. For this reason, drug tests and a screening questionnaire are commonly given before a lie detector test. Medications that affect heart rate and blood pressure can affect polygraph results. These include antihypertensives and anti-anxiety medications and also a host of illegal drugs, including heroin, marijuana, cocaine, and methamphetamine. Caffeine, nicotine, allergy medications, sleep aids, and cough remedies may also affect the test. Some Medical Conditions May Prohibit the Test While diagnosed sociopaths and psychopaths may be excluded from the test due to a potential ability to control responses, other medical conditions may prohibit the test. People who have epilepsy, nerve damage (including essential tremor), heart disease, have suffered a stroke, or are extremely fatigued should not take the test. Mentally incompetent people shouldnt take the test. Pregnant women are generally exempted from the test unless a doctor gives written approval. With the exception of mental illness, drugs and medical conditions dont necessarily enable a person to beat a lie detector test. However, they do skew the results, making them less reliable. IEEE Transactions On Microwave Techniques -Myassignmenthelp.Com

Question: Discuss About The IEEE Transactions On Microwave Techniques? Answer: Introduction Wireless mobile charger is a recent trend by which the mobile phones can be charged wirelessly. One of the major advantages of this technology is that, the wireless chargers are compatible with the mobile phones from any manufacturer. It works on a principle of inductive charging and marketing use of a resonant inductive coupling between the charging station and the mobile device that is to be charged [5]. Wireless mobile charger can be developed to achieve a cable free docking station for all cellular devices. This will help in charging the device anytime, anywhere. The project aims at designing, implementing and launching a wireless mobile charger that would be compatible with every mobile device. Project Background A wireless mobile charger allows a user to charge his/her mobile phone wirelessly. This can be done without plugging the mobile adapter. The wireless mobile charging system makes use of a charging pad, where the mobile phone is placed in order to charge the phone. An advanced power-transferring concept is used for the system [1]. The major hardware specifications that are needed to the project include HF- transformer, capacitors, voltage regulator, USB connector and rectifier. With this system, the wireless power transfer occurs through the process of electromagnetic induction. In wireless charging system the power is transferred to mobile devices not through the traditional cable but wirelessly. The system makes use of an electromagnetic field in transmission of energy to the mobile phone. It eliminates the need of plugging a cable into the smart phone in order to charge it. Wireless charger that is to be designed will provide a faster charging in comparison to the charging via cabl e [7]. An electromagnetic field helps in transferring the energy from the charger to a phone. This project is undertaken in order to provide convenient charging experience and to facilitate a more robust connection [8]. Project Goals The major goal of the project is to design a wireless charging system to provide fast and convenient charging to every smartphone. The project aims at developing a system that will eliminate the need of plugging in a cable in order to charge a smartphone. Furthermore, the project aims at developing a system that will provide a faster charging speed in comparison with the wired charging, which is not the case for the existing wireless chargers. Apart from this, the system will be designed in such a way that the phone does not heat up and can be charged even with the back cover on [4]. The objectives of the project are as follows- Project Objectives The main objective of a wireless mobile charger is to charge a mobile battery wirelessly. The charging will start automatically when the phone comes in contact with the wireless charger. The project objectives are [2]- To determine the functional and non functional requirements of the project To schedule the project on basis of the identified requirements To develop the circuit of the wireless charging system To implement the project To launch the wireless mobile charger Project Start and End The entire project is expected to be completed within two months including the requirements gathering phase. It Is termed Classical Humanism because It was born during that time period. Classical Humanism had an Impact during the Renaissance Era. An example of classical humanism is reflected through the Athens Acropolis. This is the trademark monument of Athens and of Greece. Surrounded by the new Athens, the Parthenon still stands proudly over It, a reminder of the old aura of the city. The Acropolis and its Parthenon are the ultimate achievement of the citys classical architecture and symbol of greatness. Parthenon is a building which was burnt by Persians when it was under construction. It is basically a construction of a Greek temple dedicated to Greek goddess Athena Palls or Parthenon (virgin). The Parthenon Is a temple of the Doric order with eight columns at the facade, and seventeen columns at the flanks, conforming to the established ratio of 9:4. This ratio governed the vertical and horizontal proportions of the temple as well as many other relationships of the building like the spacing between the columns and their height. We will write a custom essay sample on Intro to Humanities or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page The most amazing fact about this perfect achievement Is that Its columns are made In a zigzag as to give the Impression that Its foundations are straight. The combination of Doric mottoes and the Ionic frieze on the walls are considered unique masterpieces. On the east side, the mottoes depict the fight of the Gods against the Giants, and on the east side, the Lappet battle against the Centaurs. The south side shows the triumph of the Greeks against the Amazons and the north the victory of the Athenian on the Trojan. The frieze that covers the sides of the temple depicts the most important religious festival in Ancient Greece, the Pantheon. The designs include the figure of Gods, animals, and more than 360 humans. The temples two pediments show the birth of Athena and the fight between her and Poseidon for the name of the city. Elgin The Athens acropolis, Pantheon, was built ring the classical period and dedicated to some aspect of the god Athena. The architecture and decoration was mirrored to reflect interests of the people of Greece and symbolism of greatness. Reference www. Witches. CBS. Deed/sacredness/acropolis. HTML www. Goddess-Athena. HTML FIFO Question #1 : Discuss the role of Christian monasticism in sustaining European civilization during the early Middle Ages. Refer to specifically to monasticism contributions to the arts, learning, and education from the age of Charlemagne to Peter Ballard. Christian monasticism is a calling that very early believers pursued. All of the early believers had three essential vows: poverty, chastity, and obedience. They all believed that they are dedicating ones life to prayer and devotion to the sprit. Giving up on materials possessions provided a way to dedicating ones life to shadowing Chrisms apostles was the road to salvation. The first European area to adopt monasticism was Ireland and later spread to France. It spread of monasticism lead to great influences in the areas artistic expression, learning, and education. The early expression of monastic influence in architecture was seen in the building of the great Abbey of Carolingian Age which is known as the plan of SST. Gall. It was centered by the theme of a great church. The church was always the most imposing feature of a monastic complex. By its size and hierarchical complexity, it expressed many of the aspirations of the community to which it belonged. It also gave some indication of the Anneal and prosperity of the monastery and, inside, would probably commemorate patrons who provided sustained support to the community. The most precious unman remains in a monastic church were the relics of saints preserved in shrines behind the high altar. The Church became a center for learning, with the monks becoming cultural carriers transmitting the written treasures of the past by preserving and copying ancient texts. An example of this would be Horsiest. Horsiest rote books about Christian legends and wrote Roman dramas with an Christian spin to it. Often, the only literate members of society were the monks/priest. It was the monks who made and transmitted written copies of the Bible and other ancient Norms from generation to generation. They organized some of the first libraries. They conducted scientific and other research to benefit the surrounding communities. They were expert farmers who were able to pass on the benefits of their expertise to peasants on the large manors. Monasticism has played a vital role in the creation, preservation, and transmission of culture. This is especially true of the Christian Monasticism during the Middle Ages. References: http://www. Org/wick/Monastic_school Adventures in the Human Spirit, Philip Bishop DEEDED Intro to Humanities Unit 3 writing assignment Question #2: Define three essentials elements of the baroque style in the arts and illustrate these elements with three details examples of baroque art. Choose your examples from two different artistic media (painting, music, architecture, sculpture period in Western European art music from about 1600 to 1750.The Baroque period is a style that uses excessive motion and simply interpreted detail to produce drama, tension, exuberance, and grandeur in sculpture, painting, architecture, literature, dance and music. The desire to evoke emotional states by appealing to the senses in dramatic way is the basic principle of the baroque period. One of the best illustrations of the baroque period is through music. Contrast is an important Ingredient in the drama of a baroque composition. The differences between loud and soft, solo and ensemble, different instruments and timbres all play an important role in many baroque compositions.Composers also began to be more precise about instrumentation, often specifying the instruments on which a piece should be played instead of allowing the performer to choose. Also unity of mood is another key to baroque music. What is happy will be happy throughout and what is sad continues to the end. Composers molded the musical language to fit mood. Some definite rhythms ND melodic patterns are used to define certain moods and expressions. The prime exception of this characteristic to this baroque principle of the unity of mood is drastic changes of emotions in the text may inspire corresponding changes in music. But even in such cases, the certain mood will continue for quite some time before it changes to another. Images are direct, obvious, and dramatic. Another illustration of the elements of the Baroque period is through Art. The Baroque art shares the all the same principles of its era. It tries to draw the viewer into the scene and is emotionally intense in its depictions. It will be physically and psychologically real while using dramatic use of color and contrasts of light to dark. The Crucifixion of Saint Peter is exemplifies the elements of the baroque period. In this painting, SST.Peter is being crucified. He asked to be hung from his cross upside-down as not to imitate his Lord. Rhea divine light shines on Peter while the faces of the Romans are masked by shadows. The architecture in the Baroque period was used in two main ways, churches and palaces. Complex architectural plan shapes, often based on the oval, and the dynamic opposition and interpenetration of spaces were favored to heighten he feeling of motion and sensuality. Other characteristic qualities include grandeur, drama and contrast (especially in lighting), rounded, and twisting elements.Architects like to apply bright colors and vividly painted ceilings. An example of this is shown through the new SST. Palls Cathedral in London. The Baroque period was extremely influential in this time period and has been shown throughout the various artistic medias. The Battle of Valverde - American Civil War

The Battle of Valverde - American Civil War The Battle of Valverde was fought February 21, 1862, during the American Civil War (1861-1865). On December 20, 1861, Brigadier General Henry H. Sibley issued a proclamation claiming New Mexico for the Confederacy. To support his words, he advanced north from Fort Thorn in February 1862. Following the Rio Grande, he intended to take Fort Craig, the capital at Santa Fe, and Fort Union. Marching with 2,590 ill-equipped men, Sibley neared Fort Craig on February 13. Within the forts walls were around 3,800 Union soldiers led by Colonel Edward Canby. Unsure of the size of the approaching Confederate force, Canby employed several ruses, including the use of wooden Quaker guns, to make the fort look stronger. Judging Fort Craig to be too strong to be taken by direct assault, Sibley remained south of the fort and deployed his men with the goal of enticing Canby to attack. Though the Confederates remained in position for three days, Canby refused to leave his fortifications. Short on rations, Sibley convened a council of war on February 18. Following discussions, it was decided to cross the Rio Grande, move up the east bank, and capture the ford at Valverde with the goal of severing Fort Craigs lines of communication to Santa Fe. Advancing, the Confederates camped to the east of the fort on the night of February 20-21. Armies Commanders: Union Colonel Edward Canby3,000 men Confederate Brigadier General Henry H. Sibley2,590 men The Armies Meet Alerted to the Confederate movements, Canby dispatched a mixed force of cavalry, infantry, and artillery under Lieutenant Colonel Benjamin Roberts to the ford on the morning of February 21. Slowed by his guns, Roberts sent Major Thomas Duncan ahead with the cavalry to hold the ford. As Union troops were moving north, Sibley ordered Major Charles Pyron to scout the ford with four companies from the 2nd Texas Mounted Rifles. Pyrons advance was supported Lieutenant Colonel William Scurrys 4th Texas Mounted Rifles. Arriving at the ford they were surprised to find Union troops there. Quickly taking a position in a dry river bed, Pyron called for aid from Scurry. Opposite, Union guns moved into place on the west bank, while the cavalry advanced in a skirmish line. Despite possessing a numerical advantage, the Union forces did not attempt to assault the Confederate position. Arriving on the scene, Scurry deployed his regiment to Pyrons right. Though coming under fire from Union forces, the Confederates were unable to respond in kind as they were largely equipped with pistols and shotguns which lacked sufficient range. The Tide Turns Learning of the standoff, Canby departed Fort Craig with the bulk of his command only leaving a force of militia to guard the post. Arriving on the scene, he left two regiments of infantry on the west bank and pushed the remainder of his men across the river. Pounding the Confederate position with artillery, Union forces slowly gained the upper hand on the field. Aware of the growing fight at the ford, Sibley also sent reinforcements in the form of Colonel Tom Greens 5th Texas Mounted Rifles and elements of the 7th Texas Mounted Rifles. Ill (or drunk), Sibley remained in camp after delegating field command to Green. Early in the afternoon, Green authorized an attack by a company of lancers from the 5th Texas Rifles. Led by Captain Willis Lang, they surged forward and were met by heavy fire from a company of Colorado volunteers. Their charge defeated, the remnants of the lancers withdrew. Assessing the situation, Canby decided against a frontal attack on Greens line. Instead, he sought to force the Confederate left flank. Ordering Colonel Christopher Kit Carsons untested 1st New Mexico Volunteers across the river, he advanced them, along with Captain Alexander McRaes artillery battery, to a forward position. Seeing the Union assault forming, Green ordered Major Henry Raguet to lead an attack against the Union right to buy time. Charging forward, Raguets men were repulsed and the Union troops began advancing. While Raguets men were being turned back, Green ordered Scurry to prepare an attack on the Union center. Surging forward in three waves, Scurrys men struck near McRaes battery. In fierce fighting, they succeeded in taking the guns and shattering the Union line. His position suddenly collapsing, Canby was forced to order a retreat back across the river though many of his men had already begun to flee the field. Aftermath of the Battle The Battle of Valverde cost Canby 111 killed, 160 wounded, and 204 captured/missing. Sibleys losses totaled 150-230 killed and wounded. Falling back to Fort Craig, Canby resumed a defensive position. Though he had won a victory in the field, Sibley still lacked sufficient forces to successfully attack Fort Craig. Short on rations, he elected to continue north towards Albuquerque and Santa Fe with the goal of re-provisioning his army. Canby, believing his was out-numbered elected not to pursue. Though he ultimately occupied both Albuquerque and Santa Fe, Sibley was forced to abandon New Mexico after the Battle of Glorieta Pass and the loss of his wagon train. A5-Chpt 7 - Assignment Example Its other fundamental role is in the industrial field, where it acts like a trade organization. Through this it enables the preservation of a secure ACH Network and at the same time, taking into account the public sentiments (NACHA). There are numerous innovations and technologies in emergence, thus changing the manner in which businesses access, utilize and transit their money. The current world is shifting into an electronic and mobile infrastructure (NACHA). This depicts the essence of securing the electronic payments to ensure that they operate as expected by the consumers. Here the ACH Network emerges into involvement because it makes all these possibilities into action. In addition, NACHA is the trustee of this payment network. The major participants involved when making an ACH e-payment are the originator, ODFI, ACH operator, RDFI, receiver and the third party processor (NACHA). There are various changes and upcoming projects that are emerging from the ACH Network. Some are already in implementation while others are still in the planning stage. However, there is one outstanding project that is underway and it entails authorization proof for non-consumer entries. This project will be effective by the end of the 2014 year, awaiting its implementation (NACHA). Currently, RDFIs are often not asked to provide authorization proof for their card transaction entries. This will improve the security protection, thus impeding any corrupt activities when transacting business and making payments. This is a relevant project coming up in the ACH that will boost its network

Managerial Acconting Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2500 words

Managerial Acconting - Essay Example Product prices mean both fixed and variable factors and the cost unit bears a full burden of all the costs. The paper focus to illustrate the validity of the variable and absorption models of costs of production, which determines the levels of profitability of a product. It outlines the justification for difference in profits when using variable and absorption costing systems. It is imperative to note the main difference in profits when using variable and absorption costing systems. In absorption costing methods, fixed overhead costs are applicable to manufacturing costs, calculated per unit. That is, fixed costs divided by the units manufactured and sold over a period considered during costing. It results to the cost, per unit, of every unit that the firm manufactured or sold over a period. In variable costing, the fixed overhead is applied as a lump sum expense, rather than a unit. The fixed overhead include the summation of all variable costs such as raw materials and supplies among other costs. A sum of fixed overhead costs over a period is added. Instead of figuring the expenses on a unit basis, they are subtracted from the revenue as a lump sum figure. The unit profit calculated under absorption costing, therefore, is lower than that calculated under variable costing. Managements have interests that each product should have its total cost, both fixed and variable, and still generate profits. For every business, generating profits is the key target. If a product does not give benefits, then the management may consider discontinuing production over time. That implies that a product needs to recover all the costs involved in its production as well as provide returns to warrant profitability. Not all the goods provide the same contribution towards profitability. Some products may sell at a cost that covers variable costs to the maximum levels but fail to meet

The Pollution Caused by Cruise Ships Essay Example for Free

The Pollution Caused by Cruise Ships Essay Cruise ships and the industry as a whole are vital to the economic stability of the local port cities in which they dock at daily. These ships carry up to 3,000 passengers who spend enormous amounts of money at tourist locations around the world. It is estimated that millions of dollars are generated and placed into the tourism markets annually. This is great news for local communities that depend on the cruise ship industry in order to survive, however it is bad news when it comes to the environment. Cruise ships create a massive amount of waste which ends up polluting our water ways and sending vast levels of pollutants into the air as well. These large ships typically produce around 170,000 gallons of waste water, 21,000 gallons of sewage, 6,400 gallons of bilge water, and 1 ton of solid waste per day ((Brooks Dunn, 2012). Unfortunately, these waste products are dumped into our oceans, seas, rivers, and lakes. There are numerous laws, regulations, and guidelines to prevent such things from happening but most of the cruise ship operations have found a way to work around them. They understand that states such as Alaska and Washington prohibit dumping of waste materials in their waters. The cruise ship corporations have taken advantage of the relaxed laws of places like British Columbia (B.C.) which for the most part allows them to release their waste products into their water areas. This presents a dilemma for the cruise ship industry because they ultimately have to decide between making a profit and being environmentally sound. Corporations such as the cruise ship industry have an ethical responsibility to meet all environmental regulations and laws regardless of where they are sailing. Corporations have an obligation to the general public and that includes making sure they are meeting standards set forth by the government. Environmental groups have a major influence on the general public and can create enough pressure where the reputation of a company is tarnished and sales start to decrease. It would be to a corporation’s advantage to show the general public that it is going above and beyond meeting environmental needs regardless of the rules in a particular country, state, etc. When sailing in international waters cruise ships should go by the strictest of all guidelines. Ethically, a corporation should set the standard for all others to follow. They can’t allow relaxed rules to be an excuse for creating environmental damage. The general public would feel betrayed to learn that a company built on having good, â€Å"clean†, vacation fun is in fact dirtying up the water ways. CEOs of such corporations should exercise due care and professional skepticism. They should ask how my actions will affect the water ways in the future. In addition, executives should question the rules of other countries and do everything in their power not to take advantage of weak laws. Port cities depend on tourism to generate revenue within their communities. It is of the most importance to balance the needs of tourism against the needs of maintaining an environmentally safe society. Compromise is essential in the effort to reduce as much waste going into our waters as possible. These tourist destinations should always work with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to develop reasonable plans that can be accomplished slowly in order to prevent pollution now and in the future. It is understood that cruise ships will always have waste products to get rid of so decisions should be based on what is good for the environment not solely on tourism. The responsibility to maintain a clean and healthy environment is up to everyone. Corporations have a major responsibility as well because they can influence the thoughts, ideas, and beliefs of the average citizen. If a major corporation promotes the idea of improving air and water quality then it can influence the actions of other corporations. The cruise ship industry is in the position to set the standards for all to follow. They have the ability to show others that no matter the location or circumstances that a standard set of rules should always be followed. They should not let profit get in the way of doing the right thing. In the long run doing what is expected is more important than profit. The general public would accept a rise in ticket prices for a cruise if they were informed that it is because of the environmental rules they are trying to follow. Profit is the main goal of any organization, but it should not come at the expense of people’s health and well being. If the proper research is conducted and coordination between countries is established then it should be no reason why environmental needs should not be met. The general public is the first priority of corporations and every effort of compromise should be attempted. References Brooks, L. J., Dunn, P. (2012). Frustration and Denial in Morrisons Sula Essay -- Sula Essays

Frustration and Denial in Morrison's Sula A book which is most celebrated for its tale about friendship is found to have a more important theme and role in literature. "In Search of Self: Frustration and Denial in Toni Morrison's Sula," the author Maria Nigro believes Sula has much more important themes in modern literature. "Sula celebrates many lives: It is the story of the friendship of two African American women; but most of all, it is the story of community" (1). And it's not just any community is the community of the Bottom. African Americans who are a working class community. Their main problem is surviving. They must work any job they can get so that they and their families can live a life with food and a roof under their head. These jobs and sacrifices shape each of their lives. Nigro claims this is the most important theme in Sula because working-class people have been left out of modern literature. "literature has been created for the cultural elite, and the rest of us have come to consider literature as a reflection of an elitist lifestyle to which the ordinary person cannot hope to relate" (1). Sula proves to fit this hole missing in the literature world. A community that seems to have all the cards stacked against them. Being black during this era, 1915-1965, means fighting for survival. It means scrimping to get by, doing menial jobs, doing all they can to get by. Nigro continues on describing the women of Sula. The struggles of Eva after Boy-Boy leaves, unable to get a decent paying job because she was a black woman. Finding herself sacrificing her leg for the love of her children. How Eva shaped the lives of her ... ...introduction I believed Nigro thought the novel was important because it gave every working-class person a representation in today's literature. But by the end it's clear she meant it gave the African-American working-class person, if not the whole race a representation in today's literature. Even though each group, African-American's and the working-class community, are missing from today's literature; I think Nigro could have made her purpose or thoughts a little more clear. This article gave me a wider prospective on the whole theme of Sula. And since I have chosen to write about the women in Sula and their struggles to survive I found the article very useful in narrowing down my argument. And even though her thesis might have not matched her entire article, Nigro definitely understood Sula, the women, and the many themes of the novel.

Such as obey laws and regulations by legal, abide by principles of right and wrong at an ethical. In the annual meeting, though not usually at a loss for words, but I was had trouble that answer customers questions about the dangers of the materials and processes used by my company. They doggedly persistent but I was hesitant because I know facts of truth that must do not acceptable as publics. For the Interface Company’s current operations definitely be profitable by economic. As to our carpet product material is petroleum-based material and consu med that bring bad effect which is greenhouse gases emitted.Of course carpet is not recyclable that made by this type of materials. And the old carpet is dumped in a landfill. Here's to see how unethical, using raw materials from the earth that mean to plunder the Earth's limited resources. And company do not for environmental protection contribute towards, but to produce non-recyclable products, even waste of land resources and then to landfill waste. You know the Earth's resources are shared by everyone, also requires common protection. On the other hand, Interface generates of dollars in revenue each year, but, in the manufacturing process, it extracts over 1 billion pounds of raw materials from the earth. That showing usually it does pay for try to gain more. However seem do not reach the aims efficaciously, even easily to be reported potential ethics violations caused by undermine ecological environment in the earth surface layer. During the excavation of raw materials, will des troy the surrounding environment, removing vegetation, water pollution, noise and exhaust gases and so on.Furthermore, production or to explore the same time, if the management of front-line staff lack of supervision, it is easy to occur the matter outside the regulatory approvals, such as pollution and environmental damage assessment is beyond the previously acceptable circumstances; hire illegal workers, employee payroll deductions or benefits employees to work in unsafe conditions and so on. There most overlooked here is the law. Moreover Interface is also a profligate water user, requiring millions of gallons a year for its manufacturing process. That amount of water equivalent to 5. 4 Olympic-size swimming pool. These are just wasting resources activities and only adopting follow old-fashion procedures for economic profitable but also those are not smart strategy on operation at all. Question 2 As explain the Interface Company’s environmental vision to task force. I am go ing to revolutionize the relationship between the business and environment. So I would like to use the Five P’s of marketing to sustainability in long-term development. That is refers to: People, Product, Place, Profits and Process. First, the most important people in my business are the people who work with and for me. Hiring the right people is one of the most important things. They are the face of your product to the world as well as the hands behind the scene that make sure everything gets done correctly and on time. As a CEO of Interface I must work hard to develop my employees and to manage them with dignity so they want to work for me. Second, I will revolutionize my product. An idea is open two product lines that respectively adopt two materials which are wool and PET to supersede the petroleum-based materials. I am seeking some materials are environmentally preferable. Then wool is matching my required because it compares to petroleum-based Nylon or Polypropylene as a material for carpets as non-harmful.Wool has excellent durability, can be dyed easily for colorful. Global wool production is approximately only 1. 3 million metric ton per year. So there are not allows extracts raw materials from the earth again and destroy the environment. For example: greenhouse gases emit during manufacturing process. I am seeking some materials can to recycle, reduce, reuse and renew. So as a carpet fiber, make using PET (polyethylene terephthalate) that is extrudes from recycled plastic bottles, contain 100 percent post-consumer recycled content. PET bottles are sorted, ground into fine chips, and then cleaned. These chips are then melted and extruded into fiber and spun into carpet yarn. Every part of the plastic bottle is recycled, including the cap, the label, and the bottle. The cap and the label are used to make carpet cores around which the carpet is wrapped. These are reused over and over again, unlike cardboard cores that would typically be discarded. The actual bottle is then used to make the PET carpet fiber. So that, using recyclable material way can stop dumping the old carpet in expensive land resources. Third, Place: This refers to two views: the outlets where I sell my products and establish manufacturing factories. To former I will set store centre in Canada, Europe and Asia-Pacific whole business district because expensive products should be placed in expensive outlets. The latter, I would like to set up manufacturing factories in Mexico, Hungary and Philippines. For the reasons its’ are near target customers that as soon as deliver goods to all store centre. Moreover is near my offices that I can contact easily and keep monitor. Fourth is the profit. It is refer to product factors are necessary decline cost. It is because adopt wool and PET also can abandon extracts raw materials cost and water cost used for not recyclable carpet.Beside, I will get the good-will through to protect environment. In addition, carpet of diversify of two product lines are benefit for company. Wool natural without harmful hazardous substances appears in air. PET is using waste plastic to recycle as to valuable carpet. Refer to place factor, to formulate pricing strategy such as all stores centre is direct marketing that can avoid the carpet cost raise by agents. And establish manufacturing factories in developing countries for decline cost. Moreover is environmental regulations in these countries generally control on low.So that can avoid oppose if set up in more developed countries. Fifth, process takes into account all of the previous P’s to ensure that each customer has a good experience when they do business with Interface. My process includes everything that I did to get my product to the consumer including all of the planning and paperwork and marketing that it took to do it. Such as strict compliance with local environmental regulations, product quality control, new pricing strategies so on. I must a lso be able to review my procedures to more have to have efficient procedures in place that make my business run as effectively as possible. After revolutionize, there are use easily reenter nature without depositing toxins, also be recyclable into new materials. Net effect on the environment be zero and infinitely recycled during manufacturing process. It take over is use renewable resources and that eliminate all waste steams. According above Five P’s of marketing, Interface can change its processes to be environmentally friendly without compromising the company’s growth. It is absolutely yes developing at environmental vision sustainability. Question3 I would like to create Interface Company's social responsibility management system and relevant policies and procedures.Develop a system to collect and measure social responsibility performance data in line with internationally recognized standards. Then create a communications platform to engage with our stakeholders, aiming to improve social responsibility strategy reporting. Moreover, participate in a broad range of domestic and global corporate social responsibility events, increase our ability to influence the development of social responsibility and build our reputation as a responsible business. Employees are our greatest asset. So that except select and hire ethical employees, train employees to make ethical decisions in ethical climate.I also will provide support and incentives to encourage employee participation. Add more conventional and post-conventional communion by stages of moral development. Interface Company goal of social responsibility is to encourage the company’s actions toward the positive impact of consumer, community and employee responsibility. Companies involved with social responsibility take action to voluntarily eliminate production practices that could cause harm for the public, regardless of whether here are required by law. For example, a plant that uses chem icals could implement a safety inspection checklist to guide taff in best practices when handling potentially dangerous substances and materials. If factories makes excessive noise and vibration could analyze the effects its work has on the environment by surveying local residents. The information received could be used to adjust activities and develop soundproofing to lessen public exposure to noise pollution. I will start to implement our Green Action Plan to reduce energy consumption and manage waste, working with our business partners to build environmentally-friendly practices into our value chain, creating a green industry chain.Through the new carpet of PET, I also helped other industries reduce energy consumption and manage waste, for example recycle industries. Try actively involved in community development. Companies, businesses and corporations concerned with social responsibility align with appropriate institutions to create a better environment to live and work. For exa mple, may set up a foundation to assist in learning or education for the public. This action will be viewed as an asset to all of the communities that it serves, while developing a positive public profile.Interface also needs to involve in philanthropy make monetary contributions that provide aid to local charitable, educational and health-related organizations to assist under-served or impoverished communities. This action can assist people in acquiring marketable skills to reduce poverty, provide education and help the environment. For example, focuses on global initiatives for education, agriculture and health issues, donating computers to schools and those who donated supplies to the disaster. Social development, enterprises can be develop and survive. So that creating shared value for thrive to be profitable and successful businesses. An example of how interact works can be a company-sponsored contest involving a project to improve the management and access of water used by a fa rming community, to foster public health. Interface Companies that engage in socially responsible investing use positioning to exert pressure on businesses to adopt socially responsible behavior themselves. Should be creates an educational dialogue for the public by developing social community awareness. That can use media and Internet distribution to expose the potentially harmful activities of organizations. This kind of collective activism can be affective in reaching social education and awareness goals. Integrating a social awareness strategy into the business model can also aid companies in monitoring active compliance with ethical business standards and applicable laws. I will ensure our business grows in harmony with society. Ensuring our technology is widely accessible and applied in ways that benefit society. I will: To further expand our business coverage and delivers efficiently and extend to remote regions.Develop a diverse set of products and services that satisfy our c ustomer needs. Create a secure and healthy environment for customers. Help those in need by supporting poverty alleviation and education. Contribute to the overall advancement of society and culture.
